Impact of the Clean Up Action

Clean Up Action is not just a one-time activity, but part of a long-term movement to build a culture of environmental responsibility.

Through this program, Project Wings Sumatra aims to demonstrate that meaningful change can begin with simple actions picking up waste, sorting it properly, and taking responsibility for the environment around us.

Every small step taken together can create a greater impact for the future of our planet.

Clean Up Action

Objectives of the Clean Up Action

Clean Up Action is a routine environmental clean-up activity carried out by the Project Wings Sumatra team together with volunteers, local communities, students, and various community groups. The program does not only focus on collecting waste, but also serves as an educational and participatory movement that encourages everyone to take an active role in protecting the environment. Through Clean Up Action, participants are encouraged to directly observe the waste-related issues in their surroundings, including the types of waste most commonly found, its sources, and its impacts on soil, water, and public health.

More than just a clean-up activity, Clean Up Action is designed as a form of experiential learning, providing participants with hands-on learning experiences in the field. In addition, Clean Up Action serves as an entry point to introduce the sustainable waste management system implemented by Project Wings. After the waste is collected, participants are introduced to the subsequent waste management processes.

Clean Up Action also serves as a means of building a sense of environmental responsibility and ownership. When people become directly involved in cleaning an area, they are more likely to develop an awareness and commitment to maintaining its cleanliness in the future. By involving various groups from children and young people to the wider community the program encourages collective behavioral change. This is essential for creating long-term impacts and ensuring that the environment remains clean, healthy, and sustainable.

  • Reducing environmental pollution caused by waste,
